The Kashagan oil field, in the North West Caspian Sea (Kazakhstan), has been one of the major discoveries in the past 20 years.
Phase 1 develops the infrastructure needs of the Construction Phase (Early works, Permanent Camp & Utility facilities) both onshore and offshore (floating barges).
The Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Safety, F&G and other ancillary Systems have been awarded to General Dynamics Mission Systems–Italy, comprised of:

- PA and GA equipped with three main nodes and about 600 speakers

- Digital (ISDN) PABX and Telephone Instruments (field instruments, analogue and digital phones)
- Structured cabling and LAN cabinets
- LAN active components (switches and routers)
- SDH – STM1 Microwave Link (155 Mbs)
- TETRA (UHF) Digital Radio System
- VHF Ground-to-Air Radio
- Integrated NMS able to monitor all the elements of the network (based on HPOpen View and provided with SNMP enabled I/O modules)
