After graduating from the University of L’Aquila with a Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering and a specialization in Communications, Caterina knew she wanted to make significant strides in her career. In her final year of university, Caterina had the opportunity to apply the real life skills she once dreamt of as an engineer at a defence manufacturing company named Thomson. Here, she focused on aspects of software development and learned the ins-and-outs of project-based management. This subsequently fuelled her passion in project management, which would later play a defining role in shaping her career in the defence and security sector.
Thereafter, Caterina joined General Dynamics Mission Systems–Italy – then Page Europa – in 2001 as a Systems Engineer. After the chance to hone her craft, she transitioned to her current role as a Project Engineer. Taking on this exciting opportunity, Caterina now liaises with customers across many facets including oil & gas.
To her, this is an exciting chance “to contribute and make a difference across a wide variety of projects,” she says.
In a role where her responsibilities change every day, Caterina believes in taking a proactive problem-solving approach and highlights the importance of remaining undeterred when faced with new challenges, “It’s a fantastic feeling when you reach a goal and develop something new and innovative.”
Outside of work, Caterina finds joy in exploring topics including: history, science, and technology. Additionally, she embraces travel and emphasizes the importance of remaining curious and maintaining an open mind when trying new things.
