After completing her Masters Degree in Literature at Sapienza University, Manuela felt her passion for the literary world had waned. She soon discovered human resources as a potential career, “I came across a course, and was really excited about it,” she says.

Manuela’s inquisitive nature and can-do attitude led her to enroll in the post-graduate certificate program at the Institute of Project Management in Rome. This learning opportunity proved to be the catalyst for her career after she landed an internship at a recruitment agency. Here, she screened interviewees and liaised with a large portfolio of clients, including General Dynamics Mission Systems–Italy.

A few years later, Manuela sought a more challenging role, explaining that she wanted to contribute to something bigger and more meaningful. The exciting professional opportunities at General Dynamics were exactly what she was looking for. After submitting her application and a few interviews later, Manuela joined the team in 2022 as a Human Resources Assistant. Her advice when faced with a new opportunity is that “you won’t know until you try.”

Now, she is part of a team that hires the best and the brightest in the defence industry. Manuela’s responsibilities range from screening applications to scheduling interviews, all while fostering a welcoming environment for colleagues. “I always start my day with a smile and maintain a positive attitude to be there for others,” she says. Crediting the innovative work General Dynamics does, Manuela says she has found something bigger and more meaningful to work for. “The projects, all the hard work everyone puts in to create something new, is incredible,” she says.
