After completing his studies in the University of Rome Tor Vergata’s telecommunications engineering program in 2004, Simone was eager to embark on his career. He joined a consulting firm where he translated his experiences from the classroom to the role of Technical Consultant.
Simone excelled in what he now says was an incredibly diverse role. From integrating software components in support of avionics systems, to leading larger projects — he gained both valuable hands-on experience and leadership skills. Reflecting on this opportunity, he shares how it “subsequently paved the way for me to move onto command and control systems.”
Now, Simone has the chance to apply these skills, and continue to learn new ones, at General Dynamics Mission Systems–Italy as a Project Engineer. Acting as a liaison with key customers, he oversees all phases of various projects, from the bid phase until the project is delivered. Simone says it has allowed him to be more hands on as:
“it’s not just defence projects, I also get to work on telecommunication systems, and the oil & gas sectors.”
And the best part for him? The ability to try new things. “I really like how I am involved throughout the entire engineering cycle — every day brings something new and exciting.” Beyond the office, Simone unwinds by engaging in activities that fill his cup — like running and reading books, with his all-time favourite being the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series.
